WEIRD NEWS in Midweek...

This is what my husband read in Midweek, Kauai's free weekly newspaper, under the section Weird News:

WEIRD NEWS

"Every Dec. 24 in Sweden, at 3 pm., a third to a half of all swedes sit down to watch the same traditional; television program that has marked Christmas for the last 50 years: a line-up of historic Donal Duck cartoons. According to a December report on Slate.com, the show is insinuated in the national psyche because it was the first big holiday program when Swedes began to acquire television sets in 1959. Entire families still watch together, repeating their favorite lines."

Haha, Swedes, we made it to Kauai's weird news....  ;-)

It's SPRING time at Strigl Design!

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Matthew 6:28-29

I am really enjoying a beautiful and sunny day in Hawaii, after some time of heavy rain. A day like this makes me wanna go out in the yard and take care of my little plants and maybe plant some new ones....maybe when I'm done baking bread!
Have a great day!

Aloha!

It's an awesome and relaxing Sunday afternoon and I just woke up from a little nap :-0
We went to church this morning and had a wonderful time of worship and fellowship. I love spending time worshiping our Lord and Savior and to be able to share and encourage my sisters and brothers in Christ! Our God is so loving and so faithful to us even when life is a turmoil... I was again reminded about that when talking to a friend who are in the midst of a difficult time... it says in the bible to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus...I think that is key in our life and that is what I am hoping to learn! To always keep my eyes fixed on Him who actually has everything under control! Thank you Jesus!

I hope you all have a wonderful and restful Sunday!

Foccacia, Italian Bread

So it is Friday afternoon and it is pouring down rain outside my windows...It is a perfect day for baking so I am going to make some delicious Foccacia bread. It's a Italian bread with sundried tomatoes, olives and rosemary...
Here is the recipe if you would like to try it!

For the dough:
1 oz dry Yeast (about 8 teaspoons) (or 25 grams fresh yeast)
2,5 cups milk
1.5 teaspoon salt
5 table spoons olive oil
6 cups all purpose flour

Topping:
Olive oil
Rosemary
Salt (flakes)
Black olives
Sun dried tomatoes

1/ Mix the dough as normal.
2/ Let dough grow for  about 40 minutes covered with saran rap or towel.

3/ Brush a pan/ cookie sheet with edges with olive oil.
4/ Put the dough in the pan and push/strech it evenly over the pan.
Let it grow for another 30 minutes.

5/ Gently brush the dough with olive oil. Sprinkle salt and rosemary on top. Cut olives and sundried tomatoes and push them down evenly over the bread. Let bread grow for 10 minutes.
Turn the oven on, 350 F (200 C)
6/ Bake the bread for about 25 minutes.

Enjoy!
