Finally a new Clutch!
The last few weeks have just been so busy with my new job and all so I haven't been very crafty. Today I was off and I was feeling inspired to make another Clutch for my shop on Etsy. I really like the colors and the fabric on this Clutch...it is just waiting to be used by someone... ;-)

Eucalyptus & driftwood wreath!
My friend Lynette called me the other day and asked if I wanted some eucalyptus, since they had cut down some branches of their tree. I love the smell of eucalyptys so I was very happy to get some...
I decided to make a wreath to our front door. I added some driftwood and a couple of shells I found at the beach and I think it turned out pretty good...Simple, summer, beach feel....
I also made a little driftwood pot for one of my plants...
Soon to come...How to make a driftwood pot!

Upcycled and recycled part 2- Tutorial, How to make a T-shirt dress!
My husband cleaned out his closet and got rid of some of his T-shirts. I decided to try to create something with them that I could use.
I ended up making two tops and a dress and since the dress is my favorite dress now, I figured I could show you how to make it!
Pick a T-shirt and lay it flat on a table. Cut of the sleeves and cut them open by removing the seem. (Keep the bottom seem as that will be the top of your dress) Use something strait to draw a strait line on the sleeves. I used a piece of wood I found... Put the sleeves aside.
Pin the sleeves to the top of your "dress" with the outside of the fabric facing each other. Sew a strait seem, remove the pins and repeat on the back side.
Finally sew the sides of the dress and try it on to make sure it fits.
From here you can be creative and add ribbons, fabric flowers, beads, strings for halter neck...etc, etc...
Hope you will succeed and let me know if you have any questions! ;-)
Have fun!

Lay the "body" of the T-shirt flat on the table. Draw a strait line just under the neck of the shirt. Use a tape measure to measure from the bottom of the T-shirt to make sure the line get strait! Carefully cut the top part off both front side and back side. It is important that this cut is strait or you will end up with a dress that is uneven.
Cut the sides of the dress to a fitting shape by using an old dress as a pattern or by simply try it on. Make sure to leave and extra 1 inch on each side for the seems.
Finally sew the sides of the dress and try it on to make sure it fits.

Happy fourth of July!
It is a warm day in Hawaii and I am waiting for my dear to wake up. He was working all night last night so he need to sleep in a little.
We are going to meet my hubby's Aunt today, who is visiting on Kauai. It is pretty exciting for both of us as my hubby haven't seen her in like 30 years or so...when he still was a little boy. I am very excited to meet one of my husbands relatives as I haven't met any of his family members yet, well actually I did meet one of his sisters for about five minutes at the airport last year, haha. We are hoping to be able to go to Florida soon and meet the family....one day, one day! ;-)
Tomorrow is fourth of July....we haven't decided what to do yet so we will see....probably some fireworks somewhere!

Reusing, upcycled and recycled... Part 1
...some popular words now a days although I am not exactly sure what the exact definition of each word is...but... I like it! ;-)
As I always try to use what I have when creating, I was happy to get some scrap pieces of fabric from a seamstress. Some of it is really small pieces but some are of pretty good size. I decided to try something new to create and this is what I came up with:

Baking in the rain!
Today is a rainy day with thunder storms coming and going. It is a perfect day for some baking! I started off with my delicious carrot bread. As I was baking the rain just kept going and it was totally pouring down...I decided to bake some more and something my dear husband would like. I pulled out my recipe book and found the very common Swedish recipe for "Love Yummies" (kärleks mums), a very delicious chocolate cake with coffee and coconut flakes. I think almost every swede knows how to make it and has a recipe for it but I have the best recipe of all! I got it from my old co-worker and friend Julia. We used to work together in Sweden at Foreningen Tradet in Orebro. She and my other co-workers from there are all dearly missed, as i live far, far away from them!
Baking this cake makes me remember all the good and fun times (and sometimes hard) we had together! I miss you all! Wanna come over for a coffee break?
I will post the recipe later...

Bridal bouquet with bird of paradise...challenging and rewarding!
It's about time for a new blog post...I don't know where my time has gone...
Anyways, last weekend we went to Oahu for our friends beautiful beach wedding, Sam and Rahel.
I was honored to make the brides bouquet and her dream bouquet was with her favorite flower "Bird of Paradise". I have to say I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to make the bouquet she wanted but by the grace of God and the support from my husband it worked out good. The blushing and beautiful bride cryied of happiness when she saw the bouquet. Is there a better reward than that?
Thank you Mr and Mrs Apuna for letting me be apart of your wonderful day!

Royal wedding and mine... ;-)
This morning I was curious to see Will & Kate's wedding and... off course...most importantly check out her dress!!! ;-) I found a video clip online and I was stunned...her dress is beautiful! So I watched the royal wedding for a while and that made me wanna watch our own wedding movie...not as fancy off course, but since we are not royalty we could have our own style wedding, simple and relaxed on the beach.
I watched our wedding and again I was overwhelmed by the many blessings. My whole family and my best friend from Sweden came! It was such a joy to have them there! So many friends who helped us, my dress was given to me by a group of girl friends, I made my own bouquet and it actually turned out the way I wanted...haha! I got my wonderful husband!! It was just an amazing day! And I hope and pray Will & Kate will have as wonderful life as we do! May the Lord bless their marriage!
Here is a link to our wedding video if you would like to see it...and as I said, not royal style but real simple and relaxed beach wedding!

Ps. Check out the cute ring bearer...I'm glad we didn't have any rings on that pillow!! ;-)

Carrot and Cilantro soup...my version... :-)
Yesterday I made this delicious soup I got from Rustique Art on Twitter, http://www.rustiqueartblog.com/ (Check out her blog, she have some really cute items on Etsy too!) I decided to try the recipie yesterday and made some changes from the original recipe...it was a major success! My hubby (and myself) loved it! I served it with some Quesadillas. Here is my version of the delicious soup!
Here is the link to the original recipehttp://www.countryliving.com/recipefinder/carrot-cilantro-soup-recipe-clv0511
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon roasted ground cummin (or 1 tbls crushed coriander seeds)
- 1 pound carrots, sliced
- 3 cup vegetable stock
- 1 bunch (about 1 cup) fresh cilantro, chopped, plus more for garnish
- 2-3 tablespoons sour creme
- Black pepper
- Sea salt
Directions
- In a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onion and cumin. Reduce heat to low and cook, covered, until onion is softened but not browned, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add carrots. Cook, covered, until softened, 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a separate pot, bring stock to a boil. Add onion-carrot mixture and bring back up to a boil. Transfer to a blender or food processor, add half of the chopped cilantro and blend (in batches, if needed) until smooth. Season with black pepper and sea salt.
- To serve, return soup to pot, stir in the rest of the chopped cilantro and the sour creme, and reheat on low. Ladle soup into warmed bowls and garnish with cilantro.
- Serve with Garlic Bread or Quesadillas.

I got a car!!
I am so excited to tell you that we got a car for me yesterday...an olive green Hyundai!
Now I am able to go to the store and buy groceries, go to the laundry mat and do our laundry or just go to town and have coffee with my friend Catherine.... ;-)
I have spent all morning cleaning the car...it was really dirty inside. Davo fixed some issues with the lights (I am glad he is an electrician and can figure those things out because I have no clue!!)
So now it is looking pretty good!
I am so happy and thankfull!

Fun day at the Swap meet...
Our alarm clock went off at 5 am...it was time to get up and get ready for the swap meet in Puhi. After a shower and 2 big cups of coffee we headed down the hill with our truck loaded with all the stuff needed. Driving down towards the ocean, we admired an amazingly beautiful sunrise. The ocean was deep blue and the orange/golden sun was on it's way up! I can't believe how beautiful it was.
We arrived to Puhi just before 7 am,and started to set up our spot. Pop up tent, tables, earring display and all the craft items. We had some early riser who came early, ready to shop! Even though the Swap meet had less vendors than usual, we sold pretty good. We had a little raffle and a young teenage girl won first price, a wallet! She was excited and so where her friends! We got to meet a lot of new people and even a guy from Sweden, who also grew up in Småland...That was fun, the first swede I met on this Island!
Here is some photos from our exciting day!
...and by the way, Thank you my dear husband for helping me hang all those earrings....I love you!
